It seems common to have 28 year old actors playing “naive and innocent” 16 year olds, as in one I saw recently. It is so impossible to suspend your disbelief, and just enjoy the film.
I mean, there is no way even the best of them can possibly capture that youth and innocence, no matter how young they look. Or at least they never manage to.
Proportionately, it is like me (73) trying to play a 42 year old – clearly absurd.
What a waste of time and money making a film like that, and choosing the wrong actors.
