In the good old days (System 6.5.2), if you downloaded a file, then doing a Get Info on it gave you the original URL.
Would it really be so hard/bad do provide the same useful facility in OSX?

Safari does add this metadata now! It’s a “new” feature as of snow leopard iirc.
Hit info on the file and open the “More Info” section.
Ah, you are (of course) right.
I think I was looking at a file that had been gzipped.
And I think it has been there since before Snow Leopard.
Mind you, FireFux doesn’t do it…
